Calendar Next available session starts Nov 9, 2026 at 7 pm
1 additional session on Dec 14, 2026

Eat Their Words is a food-focused book club featuring literature and memoirs written by chefs, foodies, and other food lovers, where the content of the book is curated into a culinary experience by various guest chefs and restauranteurs.

Each month, we will read a book and discuss it during an evening event where the book is brought to life through a custom food experience or special meal, curated and produced by Hive’s ETW Coordinator, Chef Toni Salazar Camphouse. Food, drinks, and thoughtful conversations are included in your ticket price, and copies of the books can be purchased through our page at Bookshop.

Eat Their Words is presented in partnership with various phenomenal culinary collaborators, depending on what we’re reading and eating.

Please note that if cost is a barrier to entry, you can use the promo code "ETW 2026" at check out for $10 off.

FAQs

Should I bring anything to the dinner to share? Is this a potluck situation? Nope! Just bring your copy of the book if you want, and be ready to eat a great meal!

What if I run out of time to finish the book? Am I still able to attend? YES! Even if you haven't finished the book, you'll have a great time at Eat Their Words! Though there *might* be spoilers....

Can I bring a friend? Yes! The more the merrier! Each person must have their own ticket, though, because Eat Their Words is basically like we're a bunch of people getting together at a restaurant for dinner and drinks---your ticket pays for your curated meal as well as the conversation and fun.

Medicine for All People Book Talk

Free

with Hive Staff

Calendar Next available session starts Nov 14, 2026 at 4:30 pm, runs for 1 week

Join us for a book talk with Evanston's warm and insightful Dr. Geeta Maker-Clark as she introduces us to her revolutionary new book, Medicine for All People: Science and Ancient Wisdom for Revolutionary Healing.  Geeta's book will be available for purchase after the talk.

Hive's Salon Series programing is free, but space is limited, so registration is required.

Everyone who attends this talk gets $5 off Joanne Jacobson's class on Thursday 11/19, Body Language: Writing Our Bodies. Use discount code Geeta2026 on checkout.

Dr. Geeta Maker-Clark—integrative medicine physician, thought leader, and activist—describes a profound reimagining of what medicine can be: a vision where ancestral wisdom, scientific evidence, and a commitment to equity come together in service of healing. She reveals how extractive food and health care systems have co-opted our awareness of our natural, deep intelligence and connectedness—contributing to the disproportionate burden of chronic disease in communities that have been historically excluded from resources and power. These conditions are not simply the result of individual choices, but of structural forces that shape access to nourishment, safety, and care. In response, Medicine for All People guides readers back to medicines that are both ancient and urgently relevant: culturally rooted foods, nature-based and gratitude practices that regulate the nervous system, dance and embodied movement that supports neuroplasticity and joy, and meaningful connection that restores a sense of belonging. Integrating these powerful, freely available medicines into our daily lives creates a path for individuals and communities to move toward sustainable health and radical social change.
